Hope the exam went well for everyone!

On Tuesday evening I went to an event at Stockholm Maker space. It is a crowdfunded and non-profit organization placed at KTH. It is a place (looks a lot like a lab) where you can become a member (a monthly fee) to explore technology, art and craft. Their aim is to drive innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration. It is a perfect place where you learn and make reality of your idea. For those who already possess an idea, this is a perfect possibility where you can build prototypes together with other people. The pictures shows a 3D printer and an automatic drilling machine cunstructed by some members.

Hi all,

I found this thing called Techstar while reading about accelerator companies online. Techstar is a global eco system that is built for entrepreneurs all over the world. Techstar provides accelerators, venture capital and an enormous entrepreneurial network. They encourage people to build their businesses wherever they live and invest in you as an entrepreneur and not necessarily the business that you are in.

I think it is perfect for entrepreneurs to be able to visit such events where they can get the chance to meet with other entrepreneurs and also get the chance to be funded. According to Techstar 89 % of the accelerator companies are still active or has been acquired which I think is a quite good number. Currently in Europe they have programs in Berlin and London but hopefully (if they consider all tech startups) they will host a programme in Stockholm as well.

Check it out!

So I visited this Battlehack event after receiving the tip at the lecture last Friday. I had a strong impression seeing all these hackers wanting to create something new and innovating. There were also some interesting presentations on IT innovation from people who encouraged others to make your idea come to reality. I was especially impressed by this small (and new) company called Estimote. They create beacons that you can attach to your daily object to make them a part of your digitalized world.

Before they started to hack, it was a great event to meet interesting and inspiring (present and future) entrepreneurs!
