Good evening all together,

today I helped SUP46 as a volunteer during their ProductTank event. The topic was ““A day in the life of a Product Manager: what does the role look like in different companies, industries, and levels?”. All five speakers (e.g. Spotify) did a great job and give different insights.

I just noted a few things that I want to share:
It is all about: identify your stakeholders, solve their pain and show them why and how (Malin Cammack, Digital River World Payments).
As a product manager you are a peace maker. At the same time, you have to sell your ideas internally and externally and therefore have to stay informed about the latest customer demands. Some tips how to solve the latter issues are: Create a roadmap tied to the overall company’s goals, maintain the focus on this roadmap and communicate clear goals (learn to say “no”, too).

But today I don’t want to talk about the event. I want to talk what it means to volunteer at SUP46 and how everyone of us can help a huge number of Entrepreneurs and those who want to become so. By making events like today possible, where they can learn essentials skills for being successful with their companies you sometimes can help more then just giving them your opinion (which is definitely also an important task). I don’t want to praise myself for today’s work. But knowing that every move counts and that even a small gear is essential to keep the system running, is important. In fact it was my first time but definitly not the last!

If you think you will somehow have some free time just talk to Lana (the receptionist). She will invite you in the organization group on facebook. There every event for which they need help is listed. Just choose an event you are interested in and then it just takes you 30-45 min before and after the event to help making it happen. It doesn’t matter if it’s bringing chairs, preparing drinks or helping with the technique, everything is important and counts.

So I hope I see you at one of the events.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Just a short impression what you can achive as a part of the admin team:)

Today I want to shortly introduce to you the finish Start-Up Norsepower. It is “a Finnish clean technology and engineering company pioneering the generation of renewable wind energy for the global maritime industry” (http://www.norsepower.com/, 2016). It was founded in 2012 and is leaded by Tuomas Riski, a serial entrepreneur, who developed it from five to now over 200 employees. Because of another project work I interviewed Mr. Riski via Skype. He was directly willing to help us and is a really friendly person. He explained to us that they install wind propulsion facilities on huge ships like tankers to save fuel when the wind is able to achieve the impetus.

We spoke most of the time about the differences in strategy and project choosing in a Start-Up and established companies. He told us that for them, it is most important to create a market and make it growth. That includes building a good reputation and always hunting for the next project. Right now they are the only company with a proofed solution. This technology is a radical innovation and is now continuously improved to better fit the demand (incremental innovations).

There were four really interesting statements for all of us:
1) To decide whether to found the company or not, they made a market size analysis, a profitability analysis and mechanical feasibility calculations.
2) If the number of projects is really small don’t hunt for planning everything methodically, just demand feedback and stay in close contact to customers
3) Wich projects they accept and for which price is right now decided by the importance of that project. That means making non-profit work if it helps you entering a new market or getting an important new customer.
4) For them it is most important to stay flexible. That means having a company culture with the target of clean energy but also not becoming to stuck in one strategy. They achieve this by not having regular meetings but working continuously and react to environmental changes.

I hope all of you enjoyed my insight view. If you have questions just comment:)

Hello everyone,

This blog is about today’s 19@19 event at SUP46. I just left there and want to write down all the positive things that are in my head right know, so excuse me if I am not precis all the time and don’t hesitate to comment.

For all that don’t know what 19@19 is, I will explain it shortly. It is an event happening at the 19th of a month at 19 o’clock. It is a mixture of a speech and networking. Today’s guest lecture was Per Clingweld, a top talent management expert.

Let me start with the beginning. I have never been at an event at SUP46 so I didn’t know what to expect. But it exceeded my thoughts. A great location with drinks and super friendly staff. When I entered, people directly started talking to me and two minutes later I was in a discussion about the future of logistics. The upcoming presentation was all about what is important for a Start-Up. We learned that the most import thing is YOU, because you are unique and you are the only one able to motivate people to follow your path.
For some more impressions I upload some photos.

After the presentation we had a quick workshop how to network. It is not about telling what you accomplished on a professional level, but who you are and which problems you try to solve.

I then met outstanding people. Different ages, different gender and with different stages in executing their ideas. But all open-minded, interested and totally welcoming.
Some were really experienced and wanted to help. Others looked for people to join them. And so on. The ideas differed from the next dating website over social entrepreneurship till marketing and the next Uber.

I recommend this event to everyone. It doesn’t matter if you are a student, an employee or an entrepreneur. This is just a great event for everyone. You will find people to talk about your life, your mindset, your ideas, their ideas just everything you want. Especially for computer scientists it is a great place, till everyone is looking for them:)

I could tell you a thousand more things but I will leave it with two:
1) Just damn go there.
2) A great tip from one of my conversational partners: Check out “impact hub” an international incubator for entrepreneurs and people that want to become.

See you at the next blog:)

If you are new in town it’s often hard to find people with the same mindset. But if Entrepreneurship is your thing it doesn’t have to be hard anymore. Just go to the SUP46’s StartUp Café at Regeringsgatan 65, 3f and your journey ends.
It opens at 08:30 and gets full till 9 so be there in time or just join for lunch.
We were there for the first time and met receptionist Lana. She is just a nice person to hang out with. We sat down and she told us everything about this nice incubator. We talked about their goals and philosophy, the possibilities they offer for Start-Ups (space to work, contacts to funders, etc), the endless events which take place their every month and about how we can get part of this experience. They are open minded for every way in which you want to participate. From just hanging out and meeting new friends, to help Start-Ups or support events till getting a part of a journey even if you are just here for a limited time.
We joined her facebook group where you get updates about their events and where you find possibilities to participate.
We will definitely come back and become part of this society and we definitly recommend you to do so too. And if you do so just talk to the people there, everyone has a great story to tell and welcomes you with open arms.

Photos may be uploaded later since it is not working right now:(sup46
