Hello dear blog,

As my fellow students have written, there was a SUP46 event yesterday ft Atomico. To start with, there was a lot of people at the event. The floor was almost full.

Before I attended to this event, I promised myself to mingle when I arrive, which resulted in a couple of new LinkedIn & Facebook contacts. First I talked to Nikhil. An exchange student from India who had this “open-lab” startup in India which is top rated. Right now, Nikhil is taking his master in KTH at the mechatronics department. We talked a lot and decided to meet for further discussions.

Later on I met Per Bergström, co founder and Product Director of Nova Sweden. Nova is a student talent networking company which brings in the “top students” for connecting them with high status companies. Interesting talking to Per because of his humbleness.

By this time, I had a few beers and continued the mingle. I met Arish. He was developing an “Uber” kind of app for people who wants to “övningsköra”. In Sweden, not everybody has the opportunity to practice driving with someone, and I think this app will be used by many young students who want to take their drivers license.

To make this post short, I will jump to the last person I talked to. It was Alon Kuperman, Vice President at Investments for Atomico. Alon studied business in London, and is originally from Israel. Me and Alon talked about a business idea I had, which he thought was interesting. We also talked about getting investors, and that Atomico just makes A and B investments, and no seed investments. He gave me his visit card and told me to keep in touch with him.

As summary, this kind of events are really good to attend at. Not only for getting connections, but also for practicing your own social skills. At the end, it all comes to how good you are att selling yourself to other people and how good you are at convincing people that YOU are the right person for the job/investment/what ever you need. It can seem weird to just go and talk to people who you have never talked to, but that is necessary.

As my classmates, I went last night to Sup46 Happy Hours event co-organize with Atomico!

I was quite surprise with how crowded it was! The event was pretty popular :).

I got the change to mingle, network and meet startups founders in a really informal way.

People were relax, food and drinks were free and little Celine was amaze by how many creative and smart people are!

Would definitely recommend to attend those kind of events!

Picture : Douglas & myself at the event 😀 – same problem with the pic rotation but it appears right when looking at intopreneur on my phone.

Hey!

Yesterday evening, there was an event organized by SUP46. The entrance was for free, you had just to surmise for and enjoy your evening with entrepreneurs. I liked this event because you could come as you are; enjoy your evening meeting new people; have drinks and crisp for free. So, it was the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs to discover their start-up idea and also students who have idea and would like to launch it after their studies.

I would like to share my discussion with two of them:

 FLAG – Samuel Agboola

Samuel is one of the three co-founder of “Flag” and was working for a magazine company before launching his start-up. Flag is a Smartphone and tablet application with which you can print your photo for free. You are tired to watch pictures on your phone because you can’t watch few pictures at the same time, you would like to have pictures to look and you can’t fix your tablet on the wall. Thus, this app is for you. All the services, printing charges, mailing charges, shipping charges, are for free. So you chose twenty pictures to print on your phone and you’ll receive it few days later. How do they do it? On the back of the photo printing by Flag, there are ads and this is why it is for free. You have also a QR-code on the back to reuse your pictures, for example if you want to send it by mail or reprint it.

I really love this project and sure I would like to have this app!

Bingolabs – Björn Helgeson

Björn developed a website with two co-founders who were two classmates in “Media Management” in KTH one year ago. His website consist of gather all information about old people which are today stock in files on a shelf and lost few year after. On this website, you’ll be able to consult of these information, but also to share these information with your relatives. In this way, relatives will be informed when the grand-mother leave her house, you’ll be able to know when she could have problems.

I’ve really enjoyed this party and I liked meeting these interesting people! I advise you to be in part for the next event!

Bets regards !

Nice event yesterday with SUP 46, this time hosted by Atomico.

Atomico

A great place to mingel and meet people from the Swedish start up crowd but also investors and developers.

I got to know a bit more about Atomico that I’d like to share. They are investing in innovative companies and have a history of investments in over 50 companies worldwide including Skype, Rovio and Klarna! If your interested in the effect of investments over the past years I would recommend you to take a look at their new illustrative tool at this link:

Atomico tool

Using the play button you can follow the success of their investments the last years. Cool to see the effect of investing in new companies. Also a great source to dive into new growing companies you may not have heard of. For me these were ZQGames and InsideSales.com. Check it out!

I would also like to share a function I learned about yesterday. If your interested in getting into the start up-world you should sign up here and take part of this creative way to find start up-jobs.

For you who missed the event yesterday, the next AW with them are on 13th of November, that time hosted by Nasdaq!

Have a nice weekend 🙂

Hey everyone!

Yesterday I went to Sup46 mingel event. Right away I met my whole project group and some other classmates. Even so, I got talking with some really interesting people. Ivan presented me to Nikhil from India. We got talking about his Startup back home. He has created tech-labs open for the public and his startup is very successful. We got talking about different opportunities and ended up deciding to meet up some time soon to try to create an innovation.

Hey everyone,

Yesterday evening I went to the SUB46 Happy Hour meeting. This was an after work drink organised by SUB46 in their office. It was a really fun event to go to, because there were a lot of people, the drinks and crips were free the whole night, there was a nice DJ and I met some interesting people. The nice thing about this event was, that it was easy to get in contact with new people. Everyone was just enjoying his/her drink and chatting with people. Almost everyone which I encountered was in for a talk and told me some stories about their company or their work experience. Below, I will describe some companies which I talked to yesterday evening:

FLAG

My first conversation was with the co-founder of FLAG. FLAG is a company which will be launched next January and is going to offer a totally free service by which you can upload your pictures in their app and they will print and ship the photo’s to you. They are going to make use of a lasercutter – printer so that you can get your photo’s in every possible shape and that now quality will be lost. You can upload your Instagram photo’s together with every filter you choice, they will print it for you. You can even fill in someone else their adress, so that the photo’s are sent to their homes. In this way, you can for instance sent photo’s to your parents while you are on vacation. I was then wondering how they are going to pay for the laser cutter – printer, the printpaper, the inkt and the shipping of all these photo’s. The Business model is that it will be a new form of paper adds. Everything will be free of charge, but they will print a advertisement on the back of every picture. They can modify the type of advertisement to the information they get from you, because when you upload your pictures, you automatically sent your GPS coordinates, info about yourself, etc with it. The margin in paper adds is way higher than with online adds and in this way he was hopping to make a succesfull company.

BINGOLABS

I also talked to one of the three co-founders of Bingolabs. He was developing an app for the elderly care. Nowadays everything in the elderly care has to be written down in logbooks or on whiteboards. This information will after that disappear in a folder on a bookshelf and almost never used again. He was developing an app in which all the information could be written down. In this way all the information was easily to revise. But, more importantly, relatives are in this way able to keep track of the care of their grandmother, mother, grandfather etc. So they can see that he/she goes outside ones a day, gets washed, eats all his/her meals, etc. This is something what people would want to have, especially with the recent scandals in the elderly care in Sweden.

The funny thing was that he was just graduated from the KTH and the reason why he was able to launch his own company, was by the help of the different kinds of KTH programms which are there to help startups.

BEATLY

Futhermore, I talked to Viktor Strömberg, Co-founder and Key account manager of Beatly. Beatly is a company which is specialised in online marketing and especially in using social media to get attention for your merchandise. Their office is located in the office of SUB46.

Concluding, it was a really nice evening to get to know new people in a nice informal way and I would definitely go again.

Regards,

Tim Buzink
